I think that's just what coaches can do for young people.” PLAY AT 2:35CHAPTERS0:00Meet Jordan Carroll: New Dad, First-Year D3 WR Coach1:19What It Takes: Commitment, Being Genuine, a Calling2:12Given as a Player: The Coaches Who Molded HimTRANSCRIPTHide −0:00my name is Jordan Carrol um um a little bit about me um I am married to my beautiful wife kin Carol uh we just had our first our first baby he's two months old um so just getting into the family life um just super excited about we're just so grateful for him and um just excited about our future so um but a little bit about my coaching experience so I am uh first I just I just coached my first year of of uh football coached and and at the college level division 30:31level as a full-time wide receiver coach Under head coach Kevin backl um I was super thankful to get the job straight out of college straight out of uh straight out of playing um and it was just a it was a huge learning experience for me um I'm I'm I'm super grateful again just for all the things that I learned and and a staff that has a lot of experience um with uh Brandon Houston um Kade gray Nicholas Ford's at Baylor now um just a lot of a lot of guys Co0:59Reed cin um just some guys that um really helped obviously mold me um in my first year and so um continuing to learn and grow um super excited about just growing in this profession and and being able to be the best coach that I can be day and and day out and so um man that's that's the experience that I have right now um what I think it takes to be a great coach um I think that it takes commitment I think that it takes being genuine um with with1:30your players and and with the staff and and just having that having that um that camaraderie and that um that bond with with with the people that you're working with is important um and and and with the staff that we had this past year uh we had that and uh again just grateful to be a have been a part of that and and as a first year coach and so um again I think it's just I think it's super important to obviously be committed it's a calling um and it's something that um2:00you get to pour into young people's lives and it's it's a privilege um it's a it's a blessing to be able to do that and I got a little taste of that this past year um and so um yeah it's just it's something that I was given as a player and uh I think that's a big reason why I got into the profession is because all the coaches that molded me up until this point uh in my playing career uh is something I'm so grateful for and something that um you just you2:30look back and you're you're like I mean that that a lot of a lot of conversations that that were had me mean a lot to me and and you look back at those conversations and situations and and again just molds the man it molds you into the man that you are and um I think that's just what that's what coaches can do for for young people and um I'm excited to be able to continue that and um continue to again learn and and grow in this profession and and just2:58be the best that I can be every single day and so um that's a little bit about me a little bit about what I what I think it takes to be a great coach and um again just continuing to um learn through the process and just be committed to it every single day and so I'm excited about the future I know God has a plan for for our little family
